The Isle of Wight Council is welcoming the creation of 50 new jobs at its new waste recovery site at Forest Park, Newport. The full time positions are being created by Amey and will include maintenance staff, mechanical technicians, machinery operators, weighbridge operators, static crane drivers and electricians.

Isle of Wight Council Leader, Dave Stewart said: “This is really positive news – we are committed to regenerating our Island economy and showing that the Island is a great place to live and work.”

Although the plant won’t be fully operational until 2019, full time staff will be needed as part of testing as the plant enters the final phase of construction. Forest Park will take kerbside domestic waste and will also be available for businesses and private waste carriers to dispose of their recycling and waste to avoid landfill.
