Results of the Isle of Wight Council elections announced at Newport this morning show:

  • 25 Conservative;
  • 8 Independent;
  • 3 Other/Unknown;
  • 2 Liberal Democrat;
  • 1 Labour;
  • 1 Green.

The newly formed full council will meet for the first time on 17 May at the Annual Council meeting, where the leader and chairperson will be appointed. The leader will then appoint their administration.

Previously, the council was represented by:

  • 15 The Island Independents;
  • 14 IW Conservative Group;
  • 4 Individual Members Group;
  • 2 Labour Group;
  • 2 UKIP Group;
  • 1 Liberal Democrat;
  • 1 Liberal Democrat Member;
  • 1 Vacancy.
