This year’s NatWest International Island Games are taking place in Gibraltar and the Isle of Wight team is thanking Isle of Wight businesses for their support. The squad of 140 competitors are taking part in 12 different sports at the ‘small island Olympics’, against 23 other Islands. Unlike many other islands the team has no central support and relies upon donations and sponsorship, without which the competitors would have to fund themselves. The IW Island Games Association is a Registered Charitable Organisation and IW Chamber member.

“The support from Island businesses this year has been amazing,” says chairman Martin Goodall. “Without their support many of our team may not have been able to attend the games and we would like to thank each and every business or individual who has donated to get the team to the games or provide them with kit.

“In particular headline sponsor ICRTouch have provided the whole team with tracksuits and polo shirts and Red Funnel have given free travel across the Solent. Newport Business Association and Wight Aid donated to specifically help young athletes who were struggling financially to attend. Other supporting  businesses include Churchers Solicitors, Trigg & Co, STRUCTeam, JPR Combustions, Honnor & Jeffrey, PC Consultants, ClayCo, Hose Rhodes Dickson, JMC Hire and many others.
