ISLE OF WIGHT LOTTERY SCRATCHCARDS LAUNCH IN APRIL

* The new, instant way to play the IW Lottery – costing only £1 with a 1 in 5 chance of winning

* The only scratchcard where all the money stays on the Island and supports the local economy

* Scratchcards will fund grants to support businesses

From April you’ll be able to play the Isle Of Wight Lottery in a new way. Retailers across the Island will be stocking the brand new IW Lottery Scratchcards. For the price of one pound you can win prizes of up to £1000, with a 1 in 5 chance of winning.

“This is very exciting and something brand new for the Isle of Wight,” says the Isle Of Wight Chamber Group Marketing Manager Zoe Stroud. “All the money raised will stay on the Island and the IW Lottery will be able to support local businesses in new ways. We’re reaching out to retailers and our scratchcards will be stocked all over the Island, including in every Spar store and many more locations to be announced. There is a commission on offer to retailers so please get in touch with us if you’d like to stock them.

“This is a new way to play the IW Lottery. We have thousands of players who are signed up for our weekly draw and they pay monthly by direct debit. Our scratchcards offer an instant way to play – you can also buy them for friends and family as gifts. We’ve deliberately set the price at £1 because it makes them more affordable than a lot of other scratchcards, while still offering a great chance to win.”

The IW Lottery has been supporting the Island economy since 2001 and has created and supported hundreds of jobs in the local economy, providing almost £700,000 of interest free loans to Island businesses. The new scratchcards will see the Chamber Of Commerce working with town and parish councils to support businesses with grants for refurbishment. Matched funding will be available as grants to pay for new signage, investment in shop-fronts and similar projects to improve the look of the Island’s high streets and retail locations.

“In the absence of government funding the work of encouraging business growth still needs to be done,” says IW Chamber Of Commerce Chief Executive Kevin Smith. “It’s even more important in the work that we need to do in helping young people into employment. With the launch of the scratch cards this is a fun way for the wider community to get involved  and one which supports the Isle of Wight’s economy.”
