Businesses across the Island are being invited to take part in a brand new accreditation scheme designed by the Isle Of Wight Chamber Of Commerce. The new kite mark was officially launched at the Chamber’s Business Expo 2015 event.

The scheme has been designed to encourage businesses to think about how they can improve across a number of areas. The application process begins with an online self-assessment, designed to make the process as simple and straightforward as possible. The on-line application will cover customer care, quality of products and services, business environment, training and development and community standing. Businesses will then receive an on-site visit from the Quality In Business team.

Kevin Smith, the IW Chamber’s Chief Executive says:
“The Quality in Business scheme will assist all businesses, no matter what size or industry sector. This kite mark has been developed to encourage businesses to review the way that they operate and look to improve their performance, with the objective being to increase profitability, grow their businesses and employ more people. All of this helps to grow the Isle of Wight economy.

“Being recognised as a Quality in Business company demonstrates that your company has achieved high standards of good business practice and that you are serious about developing and growing your business. The QIB mark also demonstrates to your customers that your business strives to provide the best quality products and services to its customers.

“I’ve been involved in a number of quality assurance schemes over many years and I know that many of them are very bureaucratic. I wanted this scheme to be simple to participate in and to be of real value to the business. The good news for Chamber members is that there is no additional cost to participate, as the cost is included in their annual membership subscription. For non-members there is a small administration charge. I would encourage all businesses that are serious about developing their business to sign up and help to develop the economic wellbeing of the Isle of Wight.”

The QIB accredited logo can only be used by companies that have been successful in meeting the required standards. Successfully recognised QIB companies will be able to use the QIB accredited logo on their letterheads and company marketing materials.

Simply go to www.iwchamber.co.uk/qib and register online with your company details, then proceed to the self assessment Application Form and score your business against the questions and finally submit your application. If your business does not reach the minimum standard required to receive accreditation your business will be supported through a series of workshops and training activities to assist your business to attain QIB accreditation which will help your business performance.
