Public comment is being invited on three new planning discussion documents for the areas of The Medina Valley, Ryde and The Bay.

The consultation responses will be used to help develop Area Action Plans which are being prepared for each of the three areas.

Once adopted, the action plans will become formal documents designating uses for areas of land and to help determine planning applications. The consultation on the discussion documents will run from today (Friday 23 May) until midday on Monday 7 July.

The documents and a comments form can be viewed at and downloaded from www.iwight.com/aap (from 23 May).

Copies are also available for inspection at the Isle of Wight Council’s Seaclose office reception and County Hall reception in Newport, and at libraries at Cowes, East Cowes, Newport, Ryde, Sandown and Shanklin.

Comments should be sent to: Planning Policy, Isle of Wight Council, Seaclose Offices, Fairlee Road, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 2QS or by email to planning.policy@iow.gov.uk

Executive member for planning, Councillor Jonathan Bacon, said: “The discussion documents and the Area Action Plans are an important step forward in the process of the regeneration of these key areas of the Island as well as protecting and enhancing the environment and sustainable growth in the right areas. I would strongly encourage people to take the time to have a look at the documents and respond with their views before the consultation closes on 7 July.”
