“We are the ideal solution to help you deal with your facility needs, letting you concentrate on your business,” says Josh Matthews, managing director of Island Facility Services. His company is based on Newport’s Dodnor industrial estate, sharing a location with sister business Solar Renewables. Josh’s team offer a ‘one-stop’ package, covering commercial maintenance and legal requirements with an in-house team of experienced electrical, mechanical and building specialists.

“We know that a lot of businesses don’t want a permanent in-house facilities team or handyman so we can work with them to manage their individual needs. We provide a service agreement, with a variety of levels, from bronze through to gold. At the top level we structure in their legal requirements throughout the year at a fixed price and if they have an emergency we provide 24 hour callout on all services,” Josh explains.

Island Facility Services launched two years ago, working with several of the newly-independent local schools. They’ve since worked closely with Christ The King College to convert classrooms, as well as moving into project-led domestic building projects. The company recently won a competitive tender with the Isle of Wight Council.

“We’re reaching lots of new clients and there’s a lot of project based work too. We’ve got a really high-end ‘Grand Designs’ style domestic project going on at the moment. We’ve also been working on the restoration of Northwood House. We’re getting more work all of the time and our turnover is going to double this year. We’ve got some great references from facilities managers who value our ‘one-stop’ service. We look for ways to actively reduce your energy costs and we’re also changing the way we look at maintenance, promoting efficiency. We know that businesses are watching their costs so we offer a versatile, high quality service that is competitively priced.”
