The Wight AID Foundation has granted £7,685.50 to local charities in its latest round of grant applications. Thanks to donations from IFPL, Westridge Limited, Rouse Limited, Glanvilles and public donations, Wight AID is pleased to announce a grant of £1,200 to the IOW Stroke Club, Medina Marching Band have been granted £2485.50 and Blue Lamp Trust have been granted £4000.

“Many businesses have ‘favourite’ charities, or Charities if the Year, which is marvellous,” explains Wight AID trustee Steve Porter. “The issue is ‘reach’. By tying themselves to one charity, all the other great causes don’t get a look in. If a business donates to WightAID, then charities get a look in all the time and their funding stream becomes smoothed out.  In an ideal world, all businesses would give their donations to WightAID to distribute in a consistent, fair manner.  Counter-intuitive as it might sound, it would be better for charities to encourage businesses to donate to WightAID rather than themselves! One cheque is all it takes. We do the rest.”
